Baptisms at Bluegrass

Our church is Bluegrass Christian Community. We have two majors: We are overtly missional and we practice church as a family. We are overtly missional by taking the gospel to people in our area who are the most lonely, broken and lost. I get to serve as a volunteer assistant chaplain at the Fayette County Detention Center which means I visit inmates each week who request a chaplain visit. We also work very closely with the Lighthouse Ministry which feeds about 100 homeless people lunch every day and has a six month transitional housing ministry for men trying to start life over with God. I lead a Bible study each Friday morning at the Hamburg Chick Fil A restaurant. The mission minded owner provides breakfast for everyone who comes. We now have several people in our church through these and others methods of getting out there in our city. To date we have not had a common building but have four house churches. One of these meets at St. Della's Boarding Home on East Third Street in the inner city. The people who live there are some of the sweetest lonely and fragile people in Lexington. I recently got to baptize one of the residents, James Jackson.
